Epic Games Store Now Available iPhone European Union
The Epic Games store will feature a range of games, including Fortnite, Rocket League, and Jelly Man.
Epic said that in the future, all developers will be allowed to launch games and apps through the storefront, so more games will be launched one after another. Similarly, Epic is also bringing its games to other independent mobile storefronts, such as AltStore PAL.
Only European Union users can install the Epic Games Store and its content, which Epic noted in its announcement. Epic acknowledged that the Digital Market Act allows it to be available in Europe, but continued to say that Apple "is still blocking access to Fortnite and the iOS Epic Games Store for all other iOS users outside of Europe."
Tim Sweeney, chief executive and founder of Epic Games, said: "The tide is turning and the mobile ecosystem is finally open to competition. We are very grateful to the European Union Commission for allowing us to launch the Epic Games Store and make our games available to iOS users in the European Union."
While "the fight is far from over," Sweeney added that the store's launch is "a real step forward for developers and consumers who can benefit from competition and choice."
